We pay special attention to fulfill their special educational needs providing them with individual teaching that is adjusted to their abilities. We also stay in close relationship with the local community, by organizing exhibitions, lectures and the so-called open days. The school is located in a convenient place for both the inhabitants of Gliwice and people commuting by bus or train. (about 500 m from the train station and 200 m from the bus station).
We teach:
Painting techniques, specialties: traditional painting and gilding techniques addressed to art students whose greatest passion is painting. The main task of teaching in the field of painting and gilding techniques is to equip the student with knowledge and skills enabling independent and creative use of them in creative work. In addition to such tasks as enriching the workshop, shaping aesthetic sensitivity and the ability to use artistic means, the most important thing is for an art school student to take full advantage of his artistic and workshop development opportunities. Graphic techniques, specialization:graphic design is an interesting offer for people who want to deal with computer graphics professionally. By learning traditional graphic techniques, the student acquires the ability to consciously use the artistic language in functional graphic techniques, creative thinking and expressing his own artistic views. Photography and film, specialization: artistic photography carried out according to the program, which was created for students who value independence, with their deep passions, conscious and wise artistic soul. The program assumes a departure from the dominance of the traditional model of communication in the classroom in favor of cooperation and communication between students. The main goal is to stimulate the independence, activity and creativity of a young person in acquiring new skills. The method of work, based on the workshop formula of practical classes, is the most important part and task of the entire program Sculptural forms, specializations:sculpting techniques, artistic ceramics are intended for people who are not afraid of the trouble of creating works in materials that they would not have thought were made for it.We haven’t done any Erasmus projects before but we have lots of local projects and exhibitions in the city and we have experienced partners in Erasmus+ projects. This will be a well-planned project and it will provide us a nice cooperation. Krzysztof Kuberek, the school coordinator and Dorota Bobowska, the project coordinator (the contact person) are the key persons for the project. Our school teachers Ewa Panczyk Halubiec is especially very good at water-gilding.The school provides many kinds of gilding techniques so the participants will get very different basic skills for this kind thanks to our experienced teachers.Gilding is a bit similar to the Marbling-Art(Ebru) which we will experience in Turkey mobility. Beside regular school subjects, there are many possibilities in elective, additional and facultative subjects and many extracurricular activities that are very recognized in our community and wider. City of Valpovo, where this school is placed, is located on the eastern part of Croatia, very close to the Hungarian and Serbian border and currently has approx. 10.000 inhabitants. In recent school year 2020./21. this school has 467 students in 25 classes, aged 15-19 and works in two shifts. Currently, there are 58 teachers and 18 non-educational staff. Almost third of these teachers have status of mentors and advisers, which shows quality of our human resources. Students and teachers have great achievements in very different fields: “European Statistics Competition” (three consecutive final stage achievements: overall 23rd place out of 514 teams), foreign languages, school choires, “Kangaroo without borders” etc.
Our school have experience in various EU projects. First experience was under Comenius program, but in last three years we have been participating in three Erasmus+ KA102 projects (noticed in next section) in which were involved 73 students and 8 teachers in mobilities abroad (Portugal, Spain and Malta). Also, our students and teachers participated in several Erasmus+ projects that include trainings (such as “EXTRemism EMEndation” in Italy), study visit in Estonia (“Feel Free to Borrow”) and in Poland (“Equality: NOT optional”). As a school we are involved also in “BRI-ES” conference that is organized every year in other country, and is about cooperation of STEM and technical schools in this region. In 2019 we
started to participate in 5 different types of Erasmus+ projects noticed below. Main themes that we will deal in these projects are robotics, ethics, entrepreneurship and education that is more connected with modern life. In this project High School Valpovo will bring experience gained from projects like “10 Schools – 10 Artists” (since 2013) where participants paint, draw, design etc. and show their works on local and main exhibitions. Artistic “touch” their students develop and nourish also in a project of Croatian Ministry of Culture “A Bag (Full of) Culture” with main goal to make artists, their works and different kinds of artistry more visible and recognizable. This active involvement in such projects covers the gap that we have in
Croatian educational system: only primary schools’ students are learning different methods of visual arts – in all secondary (expect specialized artistic high) schools students learn mainly history of arts and theory, not practical work. For each of these projects this school have a special project team but for this project school’s coordinator will be Krunoslav Vukelić (experienced with all these projects as a coordinator or a member of a team), headmistress Svjetlana Kalpić, and teachers of art Marija Jelkic,Zelimir Susic.Art teachers are very good at Gothic drawing. All of them are currently involved in project with similar topics and working in these areas, both in school and in other places. For example, Krunoslav Vukelić is also involved in 2020 project of Italian partner “Art is Life, Life is Art” where he will be one of the lead members in a team from his other school that he is working.
